Blue Turtle recognizes Flexera Software’s enhanced FlexNet Manager Suite 2014 R2

Flexera Software, the leading provider of software licensing, compliance, and installation solutions for application has announced a new release of the  FlexNet Manager Suite for Enterprises with On Premises availability.

FlexNet Manager Suite 2014 R2 is now available as a fully web enabled system for both On-Premise and Cloud delivery. FlexNet includes Contract Management functionality, such as payment schedules, vendor and document management capabilities, among other features.

In addition, the enhanced Web User Interface demonstrates Flexera Software’s commitment to flexibility and ease of use of their market leading Software License Optimization products.

The FlexNet Manager Suite includes the following key enhancements:

FlexNet Manager Suite

Web User Interface: With this release, the full product functionality is now available via the Web UI for both On Premises and Cloud delivery models.

FlexNet Manager for IBM

New Adapter for IBM Passport Advantage: FlexNet Manager for IBM now provides an adapter to IBM Passport Advantage that, for the first time, allows us to import license entitlement data directly from the software publisher. This can ease the process of obtaining license entitlements and allow organizations to more quickly achieve an effective license position. Getting entitlement data directly from the vendor gives customers a level of confidence that they are 100% aligned on entitlements in case of an audit.

New Adapter for IBM License Metric Tool (ILMT) and Software Usage Analysis (SUA): This new adapter adds support for IBM’s latest releases of ILMT and SUA tools, delivering support for IBM Processor Value Unit (PVU) licenses, and sub-capacity licensing.

FlexNet Manager for Microsoft

Windows Server 2012 and System Center License Support: The 2014 R2 release of FlexNet Manager for Microsoft provides support for the Windows Server 2012 processor based license. This includes built-in knowledge of the licensing rules:

  • A minimum of two processor licenses must be purchased for each physical server.
  • The Standard edition license only permits two Operating System Environments (OSEs) while the Datacenter edition allows unlimited OSEs.

FlexNet Manager for Microsoft 2014 R2 also supports Microsoft System Center license models, which are different between desktop and server operating systems. On the server side, the Standard edition supports two OSEs per license, the Datacenter edition an unlimited number of OSEs. For desktops, two new System Center licenses have been added to FlexNet Manager for Microsoft: The Microsoft System Center Client User license and the Microsoft System Center Device License.

FlexNet Manager Platform

License Management for App-V Virtual Apps Running in Citrix XenDesktop Environment Many customers using desktop virtualization, such as Citrix XenDesktop, use application virtualization as well (application virtualization within desktop virtualization). Reporting on the license position in these types of virtual environments is challenging. With the 2014 R2 release, FlexNet Manager Platform provides license management for Microsoft App-V (v4.6) virtual applications running in Citrix XenDesktop (v6.5) environments.

BMC Software, one of the largest software providers in the world, has recognized Blue Turtle Technologies as the sole BMC Elite Partner program title holder in South Africa.

Blue Turtle has accomplished a significant milestone with this achievement.

“We are very proud to be the one and only elite partner in South Africa, and we believe that our partnership with BMC Software will certainly enhance the service to our existing customers and potential future clients. It adds to our portfolio of partnerships with other technology providers,” said Geoff Van den Bosch, Director at Blue Turtle Technologies.

This elite partner program invitation is based on Blue Turtle’s current market position and their ability to offer new technology along with the potential to create new vertical markets for BMC.

The Elite program rewards partners for exceptional performance and investment. Sandy Redgate, Partner Manager at BMC Software, says they are excited about the ongoing relationship with Blue Turtle Technologies. “A partner so clearly focused on more than surpassing the required Performance, Growth, Customer Sales and Services (CSAT), and Competency metrics is someone that we are proud to work with.”

This achievement means Blue Turtle Technologies confirms its position as the leading provider of BMC Software solutions and services in South Africa and Africa.

Blue Turtle appointed AppZero Solutions Partner

Blue Turtle, a leading IT software solutions and services provider, has been appointed solutions provider by AppZero.  Microsoft recommends AppZero for moving a variety of applications from Windows Server 2003, which reaches the end of extended support in July 2015, to Microsoft’s newer operating systems.

Blue Turtle’s Andrew Parsons, business unit manager IT infrastructure, comments:  “We are excited about the partnership with AppZero as it equips Blue Turtle with a vital component to our cloud application lift and shift services.  AppZero enables large enterprise application migrations at speeds that we have never previously come across, which naturally translate into a reduction in investment for our customers.”

AppZero’s CEO, Greg O’ Connor adds: “We welcome Blue Turtle into the AppZero network of valued service and solution providers for enterprise application migration.  As a trusted partner, we will equip Blue Turtle with the tools and resources necessary to support and implement application migrations, especially during the busy run-up to Windows Server 2003 end of support.”

Automate Workload for Effective Bottom-line Savings

Blue Turtle Technologies, the BMC Software Top Emerging Markets Solution Provider FY 2013, is assisting companies to drastically reduce the risk of supply chain or business service hold ups through effective automation of production workloads and schedules through the exploitation of BMC’s Control-M solution.   BMC Control-M manages the IT workload environment, integrating across heterogeneous systems, applications and databases enabling cross line of business automation.

According to Neil Cullum, Blue Turtle Product Manager, ‘With the growth in Mobile, Cloud and Big Data Workload Automation needs to scale and transverse these integrating with existing customer systems, and enabling the management of large volumes of data and process.  In turn the IT infrastructure needs to become more efficient and flexible by adopting cloud, big data, streamlined enterprise apps and embracing automation.”

With this increased rate of change comes risk and Control-M provides IT Managers with the ability to minimize risk through management the workload environment.  Business process flows are effectively managed so that in the event of failures the alerts are issued and resolved proactively; therefore protecting the company from any possible revenue losses.

Self Service, BMC’s Control-M scheduling self-management component, enables users to gain access to and manage their environments.  This enables business users to request and manage workload services through a simple, role-based web interface.  Self Service allows you to:

  • Reduce cost and complexity by eliminating the need for business users to submit service request tickets, as well as the work associated with those tickets.
  • Improve customer service by providing business users with the information they need, such as processing status of transactions and the ability to request scheduling changes.
  • Retain control and compliance by ensuring that changes are documented and logged, and configure changes to require approval by IT operations, if desired.

Blue Turtle, as a BMC Elite partner, has streamlined environments in various industries and for multiple customers, integrating their systems using BMC Control-M workload automation.

Blue Turtle first certified ClearPass partner in Africa

Blue Turtle Technologieshas become Aruba Networks first fully certified ClearPass partner in Africa.

Matthew Barker, regional manager, sub-saharan Africa at Aruba Networks, says “By qualifying for this certification, Blue Turtle provides Aruba with the ability to provide top services to new and existing enterprise clients’ in-country.  Time and money are saved as support structures are now locally based.”

“In a world where the users of our data centre services, whether employees, contractors or clients, are increasingly mobile and where corporate ownership of the devices they use are no longer a given, business can no longer adopt a non-restrictive approach to internal or external network access,” says Martyn Healy. “ClearPass Policy Manager is a market leader in Network Access Control, delivering granular policy based network access control whilst supporting a wide range of devices. This allows business to embrace rather than fear BYOD and mobility and the associated business benefits. For us the investment in ClearPass Policy Manager training made a lot of sense and our customers will hopefully soon start benefiting from this investment as well.”

Clients are now able to manage network policies, devices and mobile work applications across any network.  Further benefits of using their own devices, is that one is giving employees more freedom over their choice of devices without compromising on their network security.

Blue Turtle extends powerful mobility management offerings

Blue Turtle, the FrontRange Master Value Added Reseller for Africa, adds comprehensive Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solution to their arsenal.  FrontRange, a leading provider of IT Service Management & Client System Management solutions, announced the availability of a new Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) offering.  By integrating EMM tightly with its existing service and client management capabilities, HEAT becomes the industry’s most comprehensive platform for managing and controlling physical, virtual and mobile devices throughout their lifecycle from a single, unified console.

The growing importance of EMM has become widely publicized in the industry. At its recently concluded Gartner Symposium/ITxpo 2013, market research firm Gartner cites “Mobile Device Diversity and Management” as the top strategic technology trend for 20141. And according to Enterprise Management Associates (EMA), 87% of all business professionals will employ a PC and at least one mobile device2, and Forrester reported that 905 million tablets will be in use by 20173.

“The ‘BYOD’ revolution is an irreversible market dynamic that CIOs and IT administrators are forced to deal with since anytime, anywhere computing is the new norm,” said Udo Waibel, chief technology officer at FrontRange.  “The big question for enterprises moving forward is ‘How do you balance the personal freedoms of this next-generation mobile workforce with the compliance, data security and management control requirements of IT?’  The answer lies in the intelligent deployment and enforcement of EMM policies that can be delivered easily, cost-effectively and ideally from a single, centralized solution either in the cloud or on-premise.”

As a hybrid EMM solution, HEAT Client Management can support customers as a tenant in a FrontRange-hosted cloud environment or on premise with an easy to configure, pre-installed virtual appliance.

“Customers using standalone mobility management solutions that are disconnected from client management and service desk operations tell us this model is overly complicated, inefficient and expensive,” said Arjen Wiersma, HEAT Client Management with Blue Turtle. “We’re seeing pent up customer demand for an integrated enterprise mobility and client management solution that enables IT to administer physical, virtual and mobile devices from a centralized command and control center. Our customers are asking us to help them with their BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) strategy. HEAT Client Management with integrated EMM functionality shows great promise in meeting this demand and helps them to achieve a fully Automated Enterprise Mobility Management.”

Steve Brasen, Managing Research Director for Systems Management at Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) asserts that “the foundation for ensuring the effective long-term reliable and secure delivery of business IT services (regardless of how the endpoint changes) is laid with the adoption of automated management platforms, like the FrontRange HEAT Client Management solution, that consolidate Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) processes that enable true workforce mobility.”

With its newly integrated EMM features, HEAT Client Management now offers the following additional capabilities:

•           Complete Visibility of Mobile Assets: Mobile ecosystems are supported by automatic device and application discovery that collects real time mobile hardware and asset data, usage and device tracking.

  • Device Lifecycle Management: Complete device lifecycle management is provided from a single, web-based administration console.
  • Single Point of Control: Smartphone management is centralized and automated to improve IT efficiency and savings.
  • Secured Mobile Ecosystem: Corporate policies are seamlessly enforced and potential threats are automatically detected to protect organizations through remote wipe and auto-lock features and application restrictions.
  • Instant Workforce Support: Instant remote device troubleshooting improves service desk staff efficiency and increases business productivity through reduced downtime.
  • Seamless Data Migration: Migrate between diverse smartphones without suffering data loss, security threats or disruption to end user devices.
  • Multiple-OS Support: All major mobile operating systems, including BlackBerry BES and BIS users are supported.
  • Self-service: Enterprise end users have complete access to self-help functionality to free up valuable service desk resources.

Some of the substantive advantages of the FrontRange’s offering are:

  • Asset Management:  All mobile assets are detected and stored in an information library that tracks hardware, software, SIM cards, users and processing information.  This provides a real time view into an organization’s entire mobile ecosystem to help with future policy and resource planning.
  • Configuration Management:  The correct configuration of all mobile devices deployed within an organization is automatically tracked and maintained at all times and is done transparently to end-users.  Data tracking of version and model number, baseline performance and relationship to other assets are just some of the configuration capabilities offered.
  • Application Management:  All applications employed by end users for business purposes can be accessed from a centralized and secure AppStore. Authentication ensures users are authorized to initiate access and/or download the enterprise applications. Automatic discovery of and reporting on an organization’s mobile device inventory provides a real-time view of the health and usage of all applications.  In addition, HEAT Client Management synchronizes data stored on mobile devices over-the-air to provide backup and common access to shared resources while enabling remote administration. Additionally, applications that violate enterprise policies may be disallowed on user devices through black listing or devices may be restricted to only install specific authorized applications via white listing.
  • Security Management:  Corporate security policies that allow differing access rules for specified groups and shared data, including pre-defined user profiles, are fully supported.  In the event of lost or stolen mobile devices, all applications and sensitive data can be removed over the air to prevent security breaches.  In addition, IT administrators can selectively wipe sensitive corporate data from an end user mobile device.  Plus, if an unauthorized SIM card is detected, the offending device can be locked and wiped.
  • Remote Support:  IT administrators can now troubleshoot mobile devices over the air and take remote control of them through a data connection (such as GPRS/EDGE/3G, WiFi) to view the device screen and use the device keyboard.  This over the air end user support provides rapid diagnostics and problem resolution to reduce IT costs, accelerate the adoption of new services and decrease device downtime to improve workforce efficiency.

Adaptiva’s OneSite Software Wins Gold from Tech Awards Circle

Adaptiva, a global leader in desktop efficiency software, represented in SA by Blue Turtle Technologies, has been awarded Gold by the Tech Awards Circle.

Adaptiva, a market leader in systems for optimizing efficiency with Microsoft’s System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), announced that its software, Adaptiva OneSite, was a Gold winner in the 2013 Tech Awards Circle program.

Martyn Healy, Marketing Director at Blue Turtle, said: “Adaptiva offer simple, elegant and mature best-in-class solutions which simplifies and reduces the cost of delivering software and managing remote systems. Adaptiva streamlines a complex process, rapidly delivering software whilst minimizing hardware requirements – a compelling ROI for Microsoft SCCM users.”

As the flagship product of Adaptiva’s IT Efficiency Software Suite, OneSite provides enterprise organizations with the ability to run Microsoft SCCM from a single site, even in complex, highly networked, low bandwidth branch environments.  OneSite SCCM distributed server infrastructure, including child primary sites, secondary sites, distribution points, PXE service points, and state migration points. OneSite allows organisations to rapidly deliver content to any server or client around the globe with no impact to WAN traffic, regardless of location. This allows organisations to improve operational service and reduce costs potentially saving them hundreds of thousands of Rands per year.

“It is our goal to create and offer innovative IT efficiency software that delivers high impact across the enterprise,” said Deepak Kumar, founder and CTO Adaptiva. “This award is especially meaningful because it is an independent evaluation process. Both journalists and product reviewers alike value the strength of OneSite because of its ability to make a significant impact in streamlining IT, resulting in cost-savings and increased productivity for enterprises.”

“As large corporations make the switch from doing nothing at all or using older IT efficiency suites to our new platform, they’re achieving far greater economies while delivering better business process integration, security, scalability and resilience across their networks,” said Kumar. “The integration of Adaptiva capabilities in a single platform is a testament to the power of our software and the overall value customers are achieving across all three products. The next round of efficiencies will come from cutting edge technology, and we are happy that leading Fortune 500 corporations are embracing the Adaptiva platform to achieve these.”
