Blue Turtle awarded NetApp Partner of the Year

Blue Turtle Technologies (Blue Turtle) recently received two major awards from NetApp South Africa.

The awards included Growth Partner of the Year and top honour for Partner of the Year. Blue Turtle, a NetApp software partner, which specialises in NetApp ONcommand suite of products, beat the more established heavyweight hardware partners to achieve these accolades.

“NetApp is a 100% indirect organisation in South Africa, parenting is in our DNA. Partners such as Blue Turtle are like a diamond in a coal dump; very rare and hard to find. Although it was close, Blue Turtle stood out among our more traditional partners as unrivalled in their growth and ability to attract new customers that were previously out of our reach, and with little interaction with NetApp. Blue Turtle was outstanding! I am proud to be associated with them and extend our congratulations to Martyn, Gray and the Blue Turtle team,” says Matthew Barker, Channel Manager, NetApp.

Gray Farrell, Business Development Manager at Blue Turtle, concludes: “NetApp is a global leader in the storage arena and was recently listed as one of Forbes top 100 global innovators. Blue Turtle is pleased to be a partner and continually assess our offerings to the market to help businesses drive cost containment and improve efficiencies.”

Nolio appoints Blue Turtle as sole distributor to extend its Release Automation Platform in southern Africa

Blue Turtle Technologies (Blue Turtle) today announced that an agreement was reached with Nolio, giving Blue Turtle sole distribution rights to the company’s products and services in southern Africa.

Nolio Application Service Automation Platform (Nolio ASAP) automates release deployment processes of multi-tier, distributed applications and their configuration settings across the application life cycle in different environments.

It allows data centre teams to centrally execute and control the tasks needed to deploy and service applications, eliminating complexity and errors while streamlining operations for heightened application uptime, accelerated time-to-release and immediate productivity gains.

“We are excited with the new partnership with Nolio as their products and solutions fit perfectly with our Application Lifecycle Management competency. Furthermore, Serena Software, with whom we have had a longstanding relationship, recently announced product integration with Nolio ASAP to extend their release automation offering, further adding value to our local clients,” comments Marius Nauhaus, Product Manager at Blue Turtle.

Manual processes and lack of release automation technologies lead to unnecessary deployment errors and increased application service costs. According to market analysts, up to 60% of application downtime is caused by misconfigurations and application service errors. Coupled with the ever increasing complexity of today’s software application releases, IT operations teams can spend as much as 75% of their time managing continuous application integration, data centre application releases and maintenance tasks.

Nolio heightens application uptime by automating application deployment and service operations, eliminating errors and replacing manual tasks with reliable, repeatable processes to mitigate the risk of application change. In addition, by bridging between application silos and streamlining ongoing application service tasks, Nolio cuts forced maintenance windows by as much as 50%, eliminating the cost of ‘end-user minutes lost’. The automation of troubleshooting and recovery processes further contains downtime costs, reducing both remediation time and failure duration by up to 70%.

“With Nolio we are able to assist our clients to dramatically reduce the cost of servicing applications, scaling workload capacity of application operation teams by three-six times, accelerating application release time from days to minutes and enabling knowledge retention and transfer across operational teams,” concludes Nauhaus.

Blue Turtle simplifies database complexities for Business Connexion

Blue Turtle Technologies (Blue Turtle) has been awarded the TOAD DBA (Database Administration) suite business by Business Connexion.

Hendrik Rheeder, Senior Manager: Database Management Services, Business Connexion, says: “Business Connexion’s requirement for a DBA toolset that could be used over multiple databases and customers, while simultaneously ensuring accurate reporting and information, was part of the criteria and a key deliverable. Blue Turtle’s Quest TOAD DBA toolset offering coupled with their ability to provide flexible pricing options suited our requirements perfectly.”

Martyn Healy, Marketing Director, Blue Turtle, adds: “Business Connexion identified the need for a database tool that could consolidate all the functionalities across disparate databases. The DBA tool had to have the ability to integrate, increase productivity and enable one to work proactively. The Quest TOAD DBA toolset met all their criteria as it automates maintenance, ensures optimal performance, and mitigates the risk of change.”

“Furthermore, we were able to utilise our resources more effectively by using junior DBA resources instead of senior DBA resources for the daily reporting side, thus maximising senior DBA resources time for strategic critical business. We have until recently predominantly used Quest Spotlight for diagnostics and pinpointing issues on the different DBMSes (database management systems). We have seen that a primary benefit and feature of the Quest TOAD DBA toolset is the quicker problem resolution,” comments Rheeder.

John Jenkins, Chief Executive: Services Division at Business Connexion, adds: “The commercial model allows us to offer SaaS (software as a service) to our customer base. We found the team extremely enthusiastic about the products, and the willingness from a supplier’s perspective to change existing costing models to accommodate Business Connexion was very encouraging. Blue Turtle is a key strategic software partner of our organisation, with several software implementations that are critical to our business.”

The solution is deployed and installed on individual workstations. Business Connexion will in turn use this solution for a number of their customers to assist with output initiatives.

Healy concludes: “The toolset is an empowering tool that reduces the time to resolution, thus adding to the bottom line. It is a diagnostic and problem resolution tool.”

Blue Turtle has been a Quest Software partner since 2003, with sound IP and strong customer base. Their Quest solutions include Windows migration, data application, monitoring and virtualisation.

Riaan de Jonge, Director, AfricanPulse Mobile Solutions, comments: “Blue Turtle is a market leader in the software solutions and integration space, which is continuously evolving its solutions. We believe Blue Turtle a perfect fit to our company’s vision and growth and an ideal opportunity to exploit the synergies between our companies in unlocking value to our clients and business partners. AMS designed a comprehensive, flexible and modular service development framework architecture within which several products have been developed – the most recent and notable being ‘ERA’, a modern, state-of-the-art prepaid management platform aimed initially at the telecommunications industry, but intended to evolve into servicing any environment in which prepaid payment mechanisms are required.”

AMS also has a strong and well established relationship with various broad IT telecoms solutions providers focusing on charging, billing, customer care, messaging, content and policy security for mobile operators.

Van den Bosch concludes: “The trend to a more mobile and flexible workforce by several organisations through the use of available technology and the demand to become more competitive and innovative, forms part of Blue Turtle’s strategy to develop solutions that meet these requirements and ensure return on investment for our customers.”
