The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be in play – and fully enforceable – from May 2018. It is expected to be the most significant overhaul of EU data protection regulations to date.

These new laws will have extra-territorial reach, thus impacting operations historically unaffected by EU legislation.  For South African companies in particular, the GDPR will both compliment and complicate compliance with the pre-existing POPI Act.  Ensuring all bases – and potential vulnerabilities – are covered is fast moving to the top of the priorities list for many CIOs.

Forcepoint supports the adoption of a global approach to data protection. To do so we need to leverage our most valuable asset – you.

We will be hosting a dedicated round table discussion with key thought leaders and influencers around how to best to operationalise the GDPR.  We’ll be discussing how local organisations, particularly controllers and processors, can effectively preserve customer trust, protect the business from potential reputational damage, and minimise impact on the bottom line.

Our guest speaker, critically acclaimed Prof David Taylor, has both the legal clout and in-the-trenches credentials needed to make the GDPR real and relevant, particularly in the financial services market where the impact will be greatest.
